Liquid Laundry Soap



4 c. hot tap water
1 bar of Fels Naptha Soap
1 c. Arm & Hammer washing soda*
1/2 c. Borax

Grate bar of soap and add with water in saucepan. Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted. fill 5 gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Add melted soap mixture, washing soda and Borax. Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Fill bucket with more hot water until full. Stir.cover and let sit overnight to thicken. Stir and fill a used, clean laundry soap dispenser half full and then fill the rest of the way with water. Shake before each use. (will gel)
-optional: you can add 10-15 drops of essential oil per two gallons. Add once soap has cooled. like lavender, rosemary, tea tree oil.
-Liquid soap recipe makes 10 gallons.
-Top load machine: 5/8 c. per load (Approx. 180 loads)
-Front load machine: 1/4 c. per load (Approx. 640 loads)

*Arm & Hammer "Super Washing Soda"- Baking soda won't work, nor will Arm & Hammer detergent- it must be sodium carbonate.

  1. At Walmart- Fels Naptha Bar $0.97, Arm & hammer Washing Soda $3.24, Borax $3.36

    I didn't use any essential oil but I like the smell of it as is.

    You'll also want to use a 5 gallon bucket that has a lid. When you stir it in the morning it is weird because it ends up being kinda chunky but it will be fine once you mix it with water in a different jug.
